South Florida Fair organizes first home improvement show

From impact windows to home fitness equipment, the South Florida Fair’s Home Improvement & More Show is set to offer a one-stop shopping experience for residents looking to make at-home enhancements.

With over 60 vendors in attendance, the free event is set for Friday, Oct. 23 through Sunday, Oct. 25 at the Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds, 9067 Southern Blvd., in West Palm Beach. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Representing an array of home improvement areas, the vendors include kitchen, bath, water filtration, patios, doors, landscape, security, remolding, hot tubs, roofing, gazebos, household items, art, jewelry, window treatment, decks, patios, screening, tree services, flooring and automotive.

Garden in Columbus’s South Side neighborhood stands as beacon of light

As the beat of West African drums carried through the neighborhood and the smoke from a fire built especially for s’mores swirled in the air, Iesha Hardy snaked her way through the garden beds and plucked some of the last of this season’s harvest.

Into her plastic bags she stuffed eggplant and tomatoes and collard greens and kale — and that was just to start. Daughter Bella had picked a pumpkin from the patch and dropped it into a bag, too.

That this bounty for their tummies was plentiful was a blessing, Hardy said, but the nourishment of the soul that has come to them by way of this postage-stamp patch of land on Berkeley Road is what has mattered to her family the most.

The South Florida Fair has announced it will be hosting it’s first-ever Home Improvement & More Show in the Expo Center at the end of October.

The Fair said they created the event because people are spending more time in their homes because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Given what we’ve been experiencing since March with this pandemic, there has never been such a high demand for at-home enhancements in kitchens and baths, lawn and landscape, décor and home office ideas,” said Vicki Chouris, president & CEO of the South Florida Fair & Palm Beach County Expositions.

There are more than 60 vendors slated to be at the event that include categories such as windows, kitchen, bath, patios, landscaping, and more.
