Home decor store Swatty Creek Mill opens in Dauphin County

Tiffany Williams launched an online home décor business, Swatty Creek Mill last year. And now Swatty Creek Mill has a place to call home in Hummelstown.

Swatty Creek Mill opened last month in a former pharmacy at 28 W. Main St.

The store sells a variety of items including seasonal home decor, soap, florals, potpourri, t-shirts, blankets, pillows, rugs, candles, snacks, gifts, apparel and some vintage items in the four-room facility.

Williams said that the new shop will allow her to have all of the of the store’s items centrally located and available for shipping nationally or the items can now be picked up in Hummelstown.

In the future, she hopes to host “do it Yourself” and “how to” classes at the store and she also hopes to have space for local vendors as well.

Previously, Williams was an assistant vice president with Members 1st Federal Credit Union.

Solano County legalized home food popups. But 6 months later, chefs still can’t sell

When Solano County approved a new California law that would legalize home-based kitchen operations in April, it seemed like Cheska Kistner’s plans to open a restaurant in her Benicia home would finally come to fruition. The measure, California’s AB 626, allows for what are known as microenterprise food businesses, which Alameda County also made inroads toward legalizing yesterday. But no Bay Area county has yet fully implemented the 2018 law, leaving entrepreneurs like Kistner in limbo.

Under AB 626, cooks can legally sell up to 30 meals a day or 60 per week from their homes when their counties opt in and they have received a permit; their annual gross sales are capped at $50,000. The law has only been implemented in one county so far, Riverside. State Rep. Brian Elder faces Republican Timothy Beson for 96th House seat in Bay County

BAY CITY, MI – Voters in Michigan’s 96th House District in Bay County will decide the race between incumbent state Rep. Brian Elder and Republican challenger Timothy Beson.

The 96th District covers areas in central and southern Bay County such as Bangor Township, the cities of Bay City and Essexville, Bangor, Hampton, Frankenlust, Merrit, Monitor, Portsmouth and Kawkawlin Townships.

Elder holds a law degree from the UCLA School of Law, according to Vote 411. Elder is Democratic vice chair of the House Agriculture Committee and is a member of the Judiciary Committee. He is chair and co-founder of the Michigan Legislative Labor Caucus.

According to Beson’s campaign website, he is a lifelong resident of Bay County and the owner of Beson’s Market. He holds a degree in business management from Saginaw Valley State University and is serving as a school board member for Bangor Township Schools.

ECSO searching for escaped inmate from Escambia County Jail

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s helping in finding an inmate who escaped from the Escambia County Jail.

Jeremy Daniel Pecotte, 28, of Pensacola, was arrested in April on suspicion of using a mini camera and a selfie stick to record at least one woman going to the bathroom at Lowe’s Home Improvement on Airport Boulevard.

Pecotte was last seen about 10:30 a.m. Friday working with an Escambia County Road Crew in the 20 block of Bauer Road. He was wearing black boots and blue inmate scrubs with white lettering reading “ECRP,” according to an ECSO social media post.

Anyone with any information about Pecotte’s whereabouts has been asked to call 911 immediately.

Washington state garden offers useful inspiration for Sonoma County front yards

For Sandra, a “hands-on” person, it was tough to stay out of the way as a contractor and workmen gutted and completely renovated the 1950s house she and her husband, Howard, had just bought in Walla Walla, Washington.

New to the area, Sandra was keen to get to know the neighborhood. So while the men upgraded her new home to a more modern aesthetic and condition, she turned to the front garden. Fire Destroys Jefferson County Gazebo, Burns Courage Garden

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)– Jefferson County authorities are investigating after a fire destroyed a 25-year-old gazebo on Wednesday night. The gazebo was located in the Courage Garden outside the Jefferson County Government Center.
