Coles Kitchen Census data reveals why we love mum’s meals

Few things are better than mum’s home cooking and the kitchen is a place where traditions and family connections can be passed from one generation to the next.

And new Coles Kitchen Census data has found that traditional Aussie food values are just as relevant today as they were 100 years ago.

Mum’s recipes are still our favourites, with 42 per cent of the 5500 Coles customers polled saying childhood memories of food play an important role in how they cook today, while 50 per cent say it’s family members or close friends.

“Our research shows Australians cherish sharing a meal with friends and family and they want to support Aussie farmers, food producers and their local community,” Coles chief marketing officer Lisa Ronson said.

If it’s true that everyone’s watching a lot more TV while staying home during the pandemic, viewers across the country are getting plenty of Las Vegas scenery during their favorite shows.

The second season of the U.S. version of dating competition reality series “Love Island” wraps up this week and has seen growing ratings since its premiere on CBS on August 24, according to Variety. Like its U.K. and Australian editions, the show is typically filmed at an actual island destination, with young competitors chasing romance and a big cash prize while attempting to avoid elimination from the voting public or their castmates.

International travel restrictions and other coronavirus concerns threatened to cancel the new season until executives from ITV, producers of “Love Island,”

From House Beautiful

Disney fans looking to fill their home with magic this fall are going to want to head to Pottery Barn: The home furnishing retailer just launched a new Mickey Mouse home collection inspired by vintage drawings of the beloved Disney mascot. The standout piece? A Mickey Mouse kitchen cart that’s perfect for entertaining.

Both sides of the black kitchen cart feature Mickey Mouse’s signature silhouette. Sleek and stable, it’s made of glass and iron and with two shelves, the cart has plenty of space to put essentials on display. It has wheels that allow you to easily move it throughout your home—but its casters can lock in place so it’ll stay put.

Pottery Barn’s new collection also has lots of stoneware that goes great with the cart. There are mugs featuring illustrations of Mickey wearing a red and white scarf and holding presents.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Well, at least for people who love fall.

One of my favourite things to do this time of year is make little decorative changes around the house to welcome the season. Small things like replacing florals and throws, adding decorative gourds and scented candles go a long way to help your space feel cozy as the temperatures cool and the leaves start to change.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for everyone, it’s also forced many entertainers to find creative ways to express themselves while still bringing joy to their fans. For someone like Amy Schumer, that’s proven difficult — she’s a stand-up comedian, after all, which necessitates live performances.

But Schumer has found an interesting way to entertain and connect with her fans even during these trying times. She’s hosting a new show on the Food Network. Her show is more than a little unconventional and nothing like anything else seen in a cooking show prior to this. Fans are loving it.

5 Reasons Doctors Love Dr House

Most doctors I know get a kick out of the television show, “House.” Though we’re all aghast at his bedside manner and cavalier attitude, still there is a certain attraction. Those not in the medical field may wonder how physicians can enjoy watching such a callous fellow.

Here are the five top reasons doctors love Dr. House.

1. Dr. Gregory House says things doctors would like to say themselves, but don’t have the nerve. Most doctors filter what comes out of their mouths. They may think curse words, but seldom say them. We rarely accuse our patients of lying, even when we suspect it. We may think our patients have behaved foolishly, but we keep our thoughts to ourselves. It comes as a catharsis to finally hear a doctor (albeit an imaginary one) say things that cross every doctor’s mind.

2. Dr. House doesn’t do any paperwork. Doctors hate paperwork. … Read More
