Kalamazoo resident, 54, killed by shots fired into house

KALAMAZOO, MI – A 54-year-old Kalamazoo resident was killed early Friday, Oct. 9, when gunshots were fired into a house, police said.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is investigating an overnight shooting that killed a 54-year-old in a house.

The victim’s name was not released pending notification of family.

Police responded to a 1 a.m. report that shots were fired into a home in the 1600 block of North Church Street. Police found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police and medical workers tried to resuscitate the victim but were not successful. The victim died a short time later.

Police asked anyone with information to call Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 269-488-8911 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
