The Amazing Adsense Banners
|
07 August 2009
For the first year of using Google Adsense for my advertising banners, they only seemed to display text ads that were offering remedies to fix morbid obesity. Now, I'm noticing more and more that there are regular banners in place of the text ads, and I have no problem with that whatsoever; it makes Morbid Optimism look that much more professional. However, over the last few days, I've noticed the banners are becoming quite hilarious considering the content of the site.
Article: "How to know you've gone too far"
Synopsis: One Mountain delves into the world of video game obsession and underhandedly bashes on Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour.
Banner(s): Who's Hannah Montana's father?, How old is Myley Cyrus
Article: "Why is it Always a Fat Chick?"
Synopsis: Morbid Optimist delivers crushing, insensitive, insults to overweight women and offers the audience a chance to explain their behavior.
Banner: Big Beautiful Women and their admirers: BBW Personals
Article: "Gold muthafucka!"
Synopsis: One Mountain displays his dark satire and wit while criticizing the Olympics that took place in China.
Banner: Stop the violence in Iran
Article: "The 'Z' is for Zealousness"
Synopsis: Morbid Optimist strolls through a Christians children site and finds some frightening "facts" and stereotypes.
Banner: Jesus Loves You: This Prayer Will Change Your Life
Article: "Americans Shouldn't Cosplay"
Synopsis: If you haven't read this article, then I have no idea how you got to this site. Anyway, in this article, Morbid Optimist just straight up bashes American cosplayers.
Banner(s): Cosplay Magic, Full Metal Alchemist OVAs, Deviant Art Cosplay
Article: "What the World Needs Now: Criticism"
Synopsis: One Mountain rips on the current state of intertwinement of college education and political correctness.
Banner: Obama Asks Moms to Return to School
Now what I find funny about all of these banners (other than the Stop Violence in Iran banner which I only put up here because it didn't seem to fit), is that they are all banners for things that the current article is bashing. The funniest one of all, though, is the BBW banner considering just how rough my musings were in that article. At least I know Google Adsense has scanned all of my content, right? I can't wait to see what advertisements they put up for this article in a couple of weeks!
